Northern Thai opened in 1997 serving Traditional Thai cuisine. It is a family-run business that has prided itself on serving the finest Thai food in Kitchener. The restaurant is currently run by a young married couple,  Seng & Ti. Seng is the head chef while Ti manages the restaurant. Ti was born in Laos and moved to Canada in 1990. Seng grew up in Thailand, having only moved to Kitchener in 2006.
